Jason started attending
races when he was 3 years old to watch his dad Ron race. Ron raced for 4 years until Jason was 7 years old. From age
seven Jason’s grandparents took him with them every weekend to whatever races they were going to. Jason’s passion was
always there to race and to this day his grandparents say its their fault that he got into this and he thanks them all
the time for it. Still today, they travel to almost every race Jason races in.
Jason started racing in 2002, only racing a dozen or so times that year but had a ton of fun and knew it was a hobby
that he wanted to continue with. Over the next couple of years Vandy Racing started finishing well and even won a few
races. In 2005 the whole VandeKamp family helped out and the team built a brand new Street Stock. Since then the team
has raced that car the past 3 seasons and has won 48 features and two track championships with it. The goal of Vandy Racing is to finish in the top three in every race that they compete
in. The team nearly accomplished that goal in 2007 after finishing in the top three 57 out of 65 nights for an amazing
top three finishing percentage of 88% throughout the entire 2007 racing season.
Vandy Racing embarked on a new venture in 2008 and began competing
behind the wheel of a Midwest Modified. The season turned out well as Vandy
raced to three feature victories and a rookie of the year title at Cedar Lake
Speedway in New Richmond, WI.
Each year the plan is to compete in over 60 races like usual at a dozen or more tracks in
three states.
