Wild West Shootout Returns to USA Raceway in Tucson, AZ

November 23rd, 2014 - For Immediate Release – FYE Motorsports Promotions

The newly re-named USA Raceway (formerly Tucson International Raceway) located at 4300 East Los Reales Road in Tucson, Arizona will see the return of the ultra-popular January mini-series Wild West Shootout on January 9-18, 2015.

The state of the art facility has been leased by and will be co-promoted by Chris Kearns from CK Presents and Chris Stepan of FYE Motorsports Promotions. Kearns, who currently promotes the West Coast Late Model Shootout Series, serves as the Western Director for USAC, amongst other ventures, and Stepan, who promotes very successful events across the Midwest and who also serves as the General Manager at the Granite City Speedway in Minnesota will be a great pair to kick off the 2015 racing season with the Wild West Shootout. Kearns served as the event’s race director in 2010, 2011 and 2012, while Stepan has been the voice of the Wild West Shootout every year since 2005, serving as the event’s announcer each of the past ten seasons.

Stepan said, ‘I’ve been fortunate enough to be a part of the Wild West Shootout in both Casa Grande and Tucson since 2005 and I couldn’t be more excited to team up with Chris to bring this event back to the great fans of the desert Southwest this coming January. We have a fantastic list of drivers who have already committed to being here for this year’s Wild West Shootout and we can’t wait for January to get here!’

Kearns went on to say ‘I am very excited for the 2015 Wild West Shootout. USA Raceway and the Wild West Shootout have produced some of the best racing I have ever seen. We plan to keep building on the WWS success and make it the ‘go to’ destination for racers and fans in January each year!’

The six race series will kick off with an open practice session from 6-9pm on Friday, January 9th and then racing action will officially roar to life with a $3,000 to win program for the Late Models, $1,000 to win event for the Modifieds and a $500 to win program for the X-Mods on Saturday, January 10th with a 5pm start time. Racing action will continue with a $5,000 to win event for the Late Models, $1,000 to win program for the Modifieds and another $500 to win show for the X-Mods on Sunday, January 11th with a 5pm start time as well.

The series will take a short break on Monday and Tuesday before kicking back into action on Wednesday night, January 14th with another $3,000 to win event for the Late Models and a $1,000 racing program for the Modifieds. The Wednesday night program will start at 7pm and feature just two divisions.

After another night off on Thursday, the final weekend will feature three straight events on Friday, Saturday and Sunday, January 16th, 17th and 18th featuring $3,000 to win on both Friday night and Saturday night before wrapping up with a $10,000 to win finale on Sunday. The Modifieds will be in action all three nights with $1,000 to win events each day and the X-Mods will also compete in two separate programs on Saturday and Sunday, after having Friday off, paying $500 to win each night. Friday’s start time will be 7pm with both Saturday and Sunday’s first green flags waving at 5pm each day.

The rules will be very similar to the 2014 event for all three divisions, with exact details coming out shortly. Late Models will run the standard open Late Model rules that have been used in previous seasons. The Modifieds will follow 2015 USRA Modified rules and the X-Mod rules will include rules allowing WISSOTA, IMCA, USRA and UMP cars to compete.

Adult ticket prices will be $18 each of the first five days and $20 on the final day. Fans can buy a 6-day event ticket for a discounted price of $100 on the opening night. Kids, ages 6-12 will be $10 each day. Pit passes will be $35 each day. A limited amount of VIP tickets will be available for $40 each day as well and those VIP passes will allow access to the pit area as well as the VIP booth. Late Model drivers will pay a $100 entry fee each day. Modified drivers will pay a $50 entry fee each day and X-Mod drivers will pay a $20 entry fee daily.
